Show Me The Way To Go Home

“Show me the way to go home

I'm tired and I want to go to bed

I had a little drink about an hour ago

And it went right to my head

Where ever I may roam

On land or sea or foam

You will always hear me singing this song

Show me the way to go home”

Ever heard this song? Watch the movie Jaws and you’ll recognize it. In the movie, the three protagonists are sitting in a boat out on the ocean, in the middle of the night, singing this song while in the midst of their revelry. Better yet, here it is on YouTube.

The upshot of all this? This weekend was Homecoming at BUMC! As always, we worshipped outside under the big tent. The sun shone. The music (by Foundation and the choir) was awesome. The food was great. And the company was even better. I’ve never seen so many of the BUMC family together in the same place before.

I know that most of you weren’t there, either because of school, other life obligations, or because you live somewhere else now. But know that regardless of how far you go, or how long you stay there, your home is still your home. The people who love you still love you. You are still remembered and still welcomed by your church family. You have places to go and things to see, but you also reside in the hearts of those who came together yesterday in the sunshine, amidst the smell of cooking burgers, to love God and neighbor.

Be well my friends.

Peace,

Kevin
